Mac's 1st Bday Party

On Mac's actual birthday, which was a wednesday, I decided to try and make the day a little special. We went to Sears and got a dryer box for free and took it home for some birthday fun. I made a door and a window and filled it with balloons. Both kids loved it and played in it all day.

The party was that Saturday evening and we prepared for the party pretty much ALL day. Making cupcakes, cleaning, decorating and making dinner. Mike and Connie came in a few days earlier and helped us get set up.
The theme of the party was "little man" so I made a tie banner and used
bow ties and mustaches for decorations.

The cake looked a lot cuter in my head before it was made, but I don't think Mac cared that it turned out a little silly looking.

The root beer straws has mustaches on them and looked so funny when everyone drank out of them!
Our little birthday man. Looking so big and handsome

I set up a white sheet in the kitchen and we had a "photo booth" Everyone chose a mustache, bow tie, or both and put it on for the picture. Wally had a feeling this was happening and wore a hat to top it all off, haha

After having some soup for dinner we watched his one year movie that I made and then moved on to the best part: cake eating throwing! Mac loved it when everyone sang and in the picture below is waving his arms around like he does whenever people sing or music comes on

Put his finger in the frosting to test it out

Realized it was too big to pick up so he just leaned over and took a bite instead

It was a good first bite and so he dug in after that. He loved it

He wasn't too excited about opening presents but had about 10+ of them so I helped him for awhile and then Uncle Davis took over for the rest

If the mess afterward has anything to do with how much fun you had then we had a BLAST! But really, we did have a lot of fun and I just can't help but get all sentimental on the first birthday and love to have a good party to celebrate

While cleaning up I found this balloon that Sadie wrote on. So cute
I sent this picture out for the thank you cards. Doesn't he look precious!?

ONE YEAR!

Stats:
Height: 32 in (96%)
Weight: 22.5 lbs (50%)

Learning to wave
Takes about 7 steps before falling or diving to nearby person or object, mostly still crawling but when I put him down he wants to stand instead of sit so he is getting really close
Makes the cutest little fishy face and smacks his lips
2 naps a day, 2 hours each. 12 hours at night. I love that he is such a good sleeper!
Loves bananas, strawberries, bread w/ peanut butter, and usually eats as much as Lyla
Likes to "drive" little cars around the house
LOVES balloons
Hates being in the car
Loves soft things. He got a huge monkey from Davis for Christmas and just loves diving into it and rubbing his face on it. He does this with anything super soft and he just laughs and smiles every time
Is getting more clingy and wants me to hold him a lot
Has 8 teeth. 4 on top, 4 on bottom
Still loves his bottle but has switched from formula to milk without even seeming to notice the difference
Going strong with 2, 2-hour naps a day and 11-12 hours at night
Started size 4 diapers
Most of his clothes are transitioning to 18 months as the 12 months get shorter and shorter

Mac is walking!

He started taking his first few steps here and there and his record so far is about 8 steps. He isn't full on walking yet but is getting closer and closer. This video is from a few weeks ago.
We are loving watching him get so big and his little boy personality is coming out more and more all the time. He is also waving and making cute little faces and noises with his mouth. We will be celebrating his first birthday with a big party next Saturday! Can't wait

Dinner with Friends

We got together with the Gwilliams and Days this past weekend and had dinner. We hadn't seen the Gwilliams for almost a year and we have seen the Days more often, but it was fun to all get together and catch up.

The kids had a blast playing together and it was fun watching them all interact

We had good food and some good laughs and are hopefully planning on going up to the Gwilliams cabin in a few weeks for a little weekend getaway!

Sledding at Papa's

Josh went to Aspen this week for a conference, so we were up at "Papa's" house and got to enjoy their snow. They are just high enough to get a TON of snow, blizzard-type depths, and its too cold to ever melt. The roads are plowed well so you can still get in and out fine, but the snow just keeps building up on the lawn. Its the best case scenario for amazing sledding. We couldn't pass up the perfect sledding right in the front yard so we went several times and in several places all over the property. It was a blast, and Lyla (and even more myself) loved it!

Seeing these pictures just makes me want to go back for more!

Christmas Vaca

We stayed for the rest of the week after Christmas and had some fun

We brushed up on our scuba skills, getting ready for Hawaii in April

Went to Fairytale Town, a park I once went to when I lived in Sacramento

Mike took Derek and Libby to San Fran and while he was there picked up this winner of a shirt. It describes Lyla 100%. It just so happens I said "Lyla, come here, I want to take a picture of you" and this is the face she gave me....it matches the shirt almost too well
We also did some serious go-kart racing

On Friday we spent the day preparing for and celebrating Grandma and Grandpa Green's 60th wedding anniversary. It was a nice event at the church all decked out and had some yummy soup and desserts. After dinner they cut the cake and fed each other, it was adorable
We also went out to dinner a few times, one place was Fats, our favorite chinese restaurant. We had a great Christmas and vacation and was fun to see all the family and spend time together.

New Years Eve

New Years is never a huge holiday for me, its really just another day, and when you have kids, its even more of an ordinary, same-ol, same-ol kind of day. We did try to do a small celebration though and had some chocolate fondue together and watched the ball drop at 10pm and were in bed by 11:30pm, haha
