Our sweet little boy Rockwell Clay Green came at 7:33am on Friday, May 16th, 2014
Weight: 8 lbs. 4 oz.
Length: 21.5 inches
Here's Our Story:
Thursday night we found out I would be induced at 7am Friday morning. I had little bits of contractions through the last week and more on Thursday but really nothing much and didn't think I was going to have anything other than an induction at 6 days late (yep, he was due on the 10th). Thursday we went to bed probably too late at 11pm and around 1am, a whole 2 hours of sleep later, I woke up with contractions. I still had myself convinced this wasn't it and tried to sleep but the contractions kept coming here and there and becoming more frequent by 2:30. At 3am I was getting pretty uncomfortable and they were coming more consistently at 5 minute intervals. I got up on my knees because I was hurting and Josh woke up and looked over at me and asked if I was ok. I told him I was having a contraction and when he asked how far apart I said 5 minutes and he shot up and said "Babe, we got to GO!" It was cute because he was half awake and delirious and realizing at the same time we were about to go have a baby. He got up, got his contacts in and got dressed. I had already been awake for several hours so I was pretty much ready to go.
Luckily we had Tyler and Davis there already spending the night since we were expecting to leave around 6:30am for the induction. They were in the living room so we quietly said goodbye and slipped out. Contractions still weren't too bad on the way over and easily maintained and still 5 minutes apart. Here I am LARGE and ready to go. It was exciting to actually go into labor on my own in the middle of the night, a secret little dream of mine! I was SO happy I didn't have to be induced. It gives me comfort to know that the baby and your body is ready to go instead of forcing it into labor.
Amazing how adrenaline (and pain) make you forget that you only are working off of 2 hours of sleep. We were so excited to meet this little guy. We were at the hospital for maybe an hour or so when the contractions started getting really painful and close together, probably about 2 minutes apart. The nurse realized it was progressing rather quickly and asked if I was ready for my epidural and I told her very much so! The epidural was administered, I wanted to kiss the anesthesiologists feet. He truly is a miracle worker. Ok, so its the drugs that are the miracle, but he gets to give it out so I was very happy with him. I tried to rest a little and closed my eyes for awhile. I was very comfortable, not even the IV was bothering me, it was so wonderful.

Then the doctor came in and decided to push things along and broke my water. Not too long after that the medicine started wearing off and within 10 minutes I went from no pain to some serious contractions that were only a minute apart. I had never felt contractions this strong before and it wasn't too fun. Afterward it felt like an accomplishment to endure that kind of pain but at the moment I was counting the seconds until I got more medicine. They called the drug guy back in and he gave me a stronger dose this time. The medicine took a little while to kick in but eventually I was back to painless except this time the drugs were super strong and my legs became complete jello and I couldn't feel them, at all. No pressure, no feeling, nothing. At one point the nurse needed to move my legs to the side and I was looking away. When I looked back she had been moving my legs around and I had no idea. They were that numb, it was crazy. I had never felt that way before. About an hour after the doc broke my water I was ready to go. She came back in, moved my legs around for me and I pushed maybe 3-4 times and he was here. It was also a weird sensation to have her tell me to push and I couldn't feel my body pushing even a little bit. Rockwell came out screaming though and ready to take on the world. One of the sweetest moments and sounds of anything in this world is hearing the cry and seeing that sweet baby you have just carried for 9 months and given life to. It never gets old or repetitive, even after the 3rd time. They didn't get to put him on my chest right away because he had pooped while I was in labor and they wanted to make sure he didn't swallow any of it. So the team of nurses checked him out, cleaned him up, weighed him, and then finally brought him over. He weighed only an ounce more than McKay and was the same length.

The first snuggles after giving birth are the best. Such a tender moment feeling his skin right on mine.
Proud Daddy of now 3 little munchkins
The kids came to visit later that morning around 10:30am. It was really fun to show them the baby, especially Lyla since she has been very curious about the whole process and excited to have a baby.
Lyla walked in with a big grin on her face and looking super excited. Mac was just looking around looking like he had no idea why he was there. Lyla immediately wanted to touch and look at the baby and Mac looked, said "baby!" and then turned around to sit next to me and saw my phone on the tray so picked it up and started playing games. We all laughed and thought it was hilarious he really showed no expressions toward the situation or anything that was going on.
Lyla was in big sister heaven. She has the inner mother in her already and was excited to hold him. The sweet tender look on her face in this picture just melts my heart every time I see it.
Mac came around and eventually held him and did seem interested but for a short moment.
My three sweethearts.
Throughout the day we had many visitors including Cindy, Wally/Lindsey, Shelly Onofrio (who works at the hospital and came on her break!) and Heather/Daren Harris. It was so nice to have so many people who love us come by and give Rock some snuggles.
The next day we got through all of the check out process and were out of the hospital by 1pm. Cindy took the kids for the day so Josh dropped me off at home and he went over and picked them up. It was fun to see the kids again and they were both excited to see Rockwell again.
Stay tuned for updates on how it is to raise 3 kids!
