All About McKay

Here is a little bit about Mac as a 2 year old:

* Wears 24 mo/2T clothes
* Takes a 3 hour nap and sleeps 11-12 hours at night
* Happy as can be, especially right when he wakes up in the morning or from a nap
* Throws small tantrums, but most times I am trying not to laugh because it is so cute and funny. He usually finds the nearest thing to throw, throws it down and then immediately feels bad and puts his head down and just looks out of the side of his eyes.
* Is talking like CRAZY and mimicking everything we say, especially anything Lyla says. My favorite things he says right now are "Where are you?!" "Oh, there you are" "Hungry...EAT" "What happen?" "Watch out!" and after a long drink will say "Ahhh..." super loud
* Loves to eat and is becoming more picky, but still out-eats Lyla every time and has a good variety of food he does like
* Is learning how to put on his own pants. Can put on his own snow boots
* Loves being around other kids. Used to be a little unsure about going to nursery but now goes right in without a fuss every time
* Loves boy things like balls, trucks and dirt, but also has his lighter side and will play with Lyla's kitchen every day and willingly let her dress him up in her dresses
* Is getting more busy, but still loves to give hugs and snuggles
* Nicknames: bub bub, stinky man, Mack-ee, Mac-a-doodle, Mac attack, Macadamia nut, brother
* Loves his Papa Roskelley, probably his top favorite person besides Mom and Dad
* Likes to look at books, and will let me read to him occasionally but usually likes to just look at it himself
* Loves to talk on the phone. He will make up some gibberish story, tilts his head to the side and walks around using hand gestures and inflection in his voice like he is telling a very detailed story
* He prefers to wear his snow boots over anything else. He will wear them all day and never take them off
* Still loves anything soft and always has to rub his face on whatever the item is
* He will be sweeping floor and if you are in the way will say Watch Out! in the cutest little voice
* His favorite thing is to wrestle with Josh. If you get down on the floor he always tries to jump on you and just can't wait for you to roll around with him and tickle him. He loves being tickled and laughs so hard when you tickle his neck or kiss his ribs/belly

I love this little boy SO much. I think about his little personality and can't help but smiling. He is soft, but strong, incredibly sweet, but has a small terrible two spell in there. I could just hug and squeeze him all day. He uses his big brown eyes to woo me over and is always looking out of the corner of his eye and batting his eyelashes. We are so lucky to have such a sweetheart in our family and are loving watching him grow and learn more every day.

McKay Turns 2

I went to go get Mac in the morning of his birthday and when I walked in I said "Happy Birthday Mac! You're 2 years old today, yay!" He gave me a big smile and said "Papa". Then we went downstairs and I changed his diaper and again he looks at me and says "Papa". Well, I couldn't deny his request on his birthday so we packed up and headed to Papa's for the day.

He is in absolute heaven when we are at my parents house. He follows my Dad around every minute of the day and get him to do anything and everything he wants. Papa will go with him in the garage, or the basement and just play with him or do whatever he asks for. If Dad even THINKS about leaving Mac's side Mac will walk around the house just calling him over and over. "Papa...papa...papa...." until he finds him and continues the process. It is so adorable and sweet. So that he wanted to see Papa on his birthday was no surprised, and he got spoiled all day, as usual.

Josh joined us for dinner and afterward we opened his present from us and my parents. He gets the cutest faces and is always so excited when he sees presents.

He got a little teeball set from us. Josh has always loved baseball and figured we should get Mac started early!

He got a superman cape (he's wearing it) and a new truck that makes lots of noise. I love his little tongue out. He does this a lot when he is concentrating, just like his Daddy :)

Cupcakes were after presents. He knew right away to blow the candles out and got to have 2 cupcakes.

The next Saturday we had his actual Birthday party. He loves trucks and so I scoured the internet and found some fun ideas for a truck party.

My favorite part, the "spare tires" being dumped out of the dump truck! I love stealing ideas from online. It was such a fun party to plan and create.

I didn't have any games planned since he is only 2, but I did have one activity. I made some "moon sand" which is flour and baby oil mixed together. It makes it really soft but still 'packabl'e like real sand. I threw in bugs, trucks and shovels and let the kids go at it. Mac LOVED it and played in it for most of the night. The kids were caked with the flour mixture and it covered my whole house but was so worth it to see McKay and all the other kids having so much fun.

He blew and blew and blew and finally got his candles blown out.

Apparently if you put "truck party" on the invitation everyone wants to buy trucks. These are all the trucks/cars he got for his Birthday! He also got a few balls, blocks and a coloring book, but the bulk of the presents were all trucks. Mac didn't seem to mind a bit and played with each and every one and had to check them all out.

McKay loved having kids over to play with, eating cake and playing with new toys. He was adorably happy the whole party and had a great time. It was fun to see him enjoy himself so much. I still can't believe he is 2 years old and will be a big brother in a few short months.

Girls Weekend

For Christmas Alyse, Mary and I treated ourselves to a night in Park City. We wanted to just get away from kids and relax for a night together. We all live at least a half an hour away from each other so we just don't get to see each other as much as we would like to. It was a great way to relax and catch up.

I hardly got any pictures! Friday night we went out to dinner, then stopped at the grocery store to get breakfast and a treat. We were going to go to the movies but there was only one small theater in Park City but all the movies there were rated R or started several hours from when we were looking. So we just went back to the hotel/condo and talked the night away until 2 AM! Later than any of us had stayed up in a really long time but hardly even noticed because we were having so much fun.

The next morning we had a delicious bacon, egg and hash brown breakfast. It was a cute little place Alyse found online and had a fun kitchen in the corner.

After breakfast we got ready and headed out to the outlets to snag some good deals. We all found some good buys and were happy with our success. There were other obligations for all of us later that day so we had to head home after shopping. It was a short but really fun trip and nice little break from our crazy busy lives. I just love these girls and am so glad to be able to live in Utah and see them every once in awhile.

Lyla Makes Breakfast

Every morning Lyla wakes up and Josh is already off to work and I'm always still asleep. I am not a morning person so I am rarely ever awake before 7/7:30 which is when Lyla usually gets up. She will mill around the house, read books or just lay on the couch for awhile as she slowly wakes up. Eventually she comes and wakes me up or gets in bed with me. One morning she got herself dressed, went downstairs for awhile and then came up and told me she had made breakfast.

This is what I came downstairs to: A bowl of cereal, milk included, string cheese opened and set by each bowl, and a cup of milk to drink for all 3 of us. (Me, Mac, and herself). It melted my heart and I couldn't believe she did this! She even spilled a little bit of the milk and had wiped most of it up with a towel. Lyla has always thrived off of being independent and can do just about anything by herself if you give her the time and instruction. Although her ability to do all of this wasn't surprising, that she did it all by herself while I was still waking up in bed was the cutest thing. I was so proud of her.

Although we don't give Mac bottles anymore, he will take one any time if offered to him. Lyla knows he loves his bottle and so she even thought to get him one. What a cutie.

Ice Skating

We got a coupon to go to the downtown outdoor ice skating rink and decided to go check it out. Lyla did way better than I thought for it being her first time.

She started off using this little "ice walker" and got used to being on skates.

Mac wasn't too sure about it all and didn't like feeling unstable. He was just as happy watching from the sideline than actually skating. I love this picture of him, its his true happy smile instead of his "chheeeese" smile!

Trying it out with Dad. His little skates were the cutest thing I ever saw.

By the end of the night we ditched the walker and Lyla was off skating on her own, with a little help of Mom or Dad's hand. She said she loved it and wanted to go again.

New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve we went back up to my parents house and partied it up. Penny's and Wally's family joined us also. It was a great night with tons of food, games and fun.

At midnight we went outside with the confetti poppers and pots and pans to make a ruckus and shout Happy New Year. We are excited for this next year filled with a new baby and new house!

Here is the after-party mess. It was a lot of fun!
