ONE YEAR!

It's true, we made it through the first year alive, and Lyla Mae turned one yesterday at 6:11pm. It has been a great and amazing year and we have just loved watching this little girl grow up and turn into our little toddler who is walking around now like a pro.

Cake Sequence:
Gets the cake! Super blurry from not turning on the flash first...oops

Tries a little bite...

Tries one more little bite...

Then decides to go all in, both hands and dig in. (this picture doesnt even do it justice, she was really goin at it and having so much fun squishing the cake and throwing it around)

Soo yummy

Briefly stops eating to give a cute face

Making sure she gets it all

Makes sure to get every piece and decided to lick the plate

All done..ready for a bath!

Made the birthday banner, turned out pretty good and excited to use it in the future too

The cake for everyone but Lyla. I had a lot of firsts with this cake. I made two different ones, lemon with lemon filling and chocolate with raspberry filling. I had never made a double decker, either of the fillings, or buttercream frosting before, but all turned out pretty well and I had so much fun making it. I used some cake "tattoos" to spice it up
Lyla's very own cake

Everyone who came and celebrated! So much fun

Opened a few presents, she has been wanting to play with this all week

Got some cool things from gma and gpa green

Then we had a dance party for a little while. It was a great day, we had a lot of fun and pretty sure Lyla did too!

Weekend Getaway to CO

Josh was in a competition called Moot Court and went off to San Fran to compete this past weekend so Gma R couldn't stand for us to be alone and quickly made arrangements to have us visit. We had a great weekend, she bonded with Louie and had a couple of "firsts"

First time trying to plunge over death-defying heights

First time playing mozart on a piano, she loved it

First booster seat experience, no high chair tray, made it much easier to scoot things off the table onto the floor

She also met her best friend: Louie

Can you tell how much he loves her?!

She shared her food

But also tortured Louie by not sharing ALL the time
Louie even got some snuggles
They begged for food together
Even tore up the tissues together
Best Buds

Since it was only a week before her birthday she got to open an early present from gma

Went on a walk after church, it was a little sunny

Also, Josh got 3rd place in the region, we were so proud of him. Only first goes on to nationals, but secretly we were a little happy it wasnt first because it has been taking a LOT of his time, energy, and thoughts the past few months!

Head Start

The past month or so I have started taking Lyla to Early Head Start. Our friends take their girls there and have been trying to get me to come for awhile now, and I finally decided that I should, and Lyla has loved it! She loves playing with the other kids and especially when they sing at the end. Its just once a week for 2 hours but its a nice break from the norm of playing at home.

Wild Walla Walla

YAY! Another wild weekend in Walla Walla. We went for Lydia's baptism and here's a little of what we did while we were there:

We baked so many cupcakes and goodies for the baptism we had absolutely no room for them in the house, so here's where they ended up, haha

Besides baking, we also did barf clean up. Lyla got her first stomach flu. It was fun....

Although barfing all night long and morning, Lyla was exceptionally happy and still loved playing with the kids anyway.
This is what Dallin did, at least every other minute, and all the minutes in between he checked his phone, in case he missed a text

Lyla got to meet cousin Samantha for the first time, Sam loved it, until she got barf buckets too
Josh still had school work to do of course, so Elijah kept him company

Little Miss being cuter than ever even when she was so sick

The fam at the baptism. Got to see grandma too, which was great
The cutest little 8 year old ever, wearing Bridget's dress, but wasn't too excited about that part

Lyla

Lyla's New Do:

This is what the lint looks like after a load of Lyla's laundry, all pink

Came in to check on her and found these little fingers poking out

Since she has FOUR teeth now, I figured we better start brushing, this is her 1st time

Goodbye 2010

2010 Memories:

-Prepared for an upcoming event that we were ignorant about
-I worked up until the last day to keep myself busy
-Our lives changed forever when Lyla came into the world
-We lost a LOT of sleep
-Had an amazing blessing day for Lyla w/family & friends in town
-Crew Roskelley joined the world & our family
-Lost more sleep
-First road trip as a fam to OR for cousin Karli's wedding- went surprisingly well
-Moved to CO
-Lyla learned to roll and sit
-Introduced the bundle of joy to all the Green's at Almanor
-Started getting more sleep
-Moved back to Spokane, gma and gpa were sad
-Josh started his LAST year of school, whew! Busiest semester by far
-Big Red blew up, we had a funeral, and were graciously introduced to Stella the Stallion
-Crew was sealed to his fam, what an amazing blessing
-Lyla learned to crawl...therefore got into everything
-Farmer, duck and cow for Halloween
-Thanksgiving in Utah @ Aunt Penny's
-Lost more sleep due to teething....
-Had an amazing week and a half with the fam in CA for Christmas

We had a hard and challenging year with lots of ups and downs, but out of these challenges came patience and we learned to enjoy the small moments more than ever. Love for each other grew and found that the hardest challenges turn out to be the ones most worth it. As we finish up our last semester in school we are hoping 2011 to be one with success and rewards for the hard work done. I know that if we have faith that everything will work out and that this year can even be better than the last!

Christmas Vaca

Christmas in CA was amazing this year, it was super busy but also super fun. But before we left I got Lyla an adorable Christmas dress and snapped some pics in front of our own REAL tree. We have got a real one all 4 years of our marriage and don't plan on stopping for another 40+

The bottom left is my favorite, it is so her with one little hand on the tree and making that adorable face that she loves to make all the time

Best Friends reunited once again. Lyla loved Napoleon before and still does, only this time she can crawl after him, even better. She lights up and squeals every time she sees him. Its more of a one way friendship though....

Christmas Eve we snuck over to Carolyn's for the traditional gathering of the Roskelley's
TL: Nativity scene re-enactment TR: Dicussing with cousin Katie how she can get that box ripped open
BL: Being cute as ever opening a new dolly from great gma BR: just a glimpse of the craziness

First Christmas morning in front of the tree!

Waiting for the rents to come down to open presents, her uncles adore her

TL: Opening her present from mom and dad TR:Daddy helping out
BL:The traditional after-present pic BR:Lyla feelin so big cruisin around on her new toy

Then the adventure began, we drove the day after Christmas to LA
Lyla chillin at the gas station on our way

First stop: DISNEYLAND!
Insanely busy, they even closed the park by noon, but was still a blast being at one of my favorite places in the world.
TL: Family pic! TR: Lyla checkin out Minnie since we never saw the real one
BL: 3-D movie: Captain EO (a Michael Jackson movie) BR: Cute Engaged couple

Drove down to San Diego next and stayed at a beach house at Imperial Beach

Lyla LOVED the sand and I think she would have stayed out there all day if we let her

San Diego Zoo
Petting Zoo was Lyla's fav, she was so happy when she got to get to close and pet them

These pics dont even begin to show the crazy brothers! Zoo wouldn't be nearly as fun without them

TL: Flamingo pose TR: Being seals
BL: Uncle Davis being so much fun and showing the animals to Lyla BR: Ty being sexy for some reason on a Hippo, I was cracking up for so long watching this

Scuba Diving @ La Jolla Cove
Ty giving off the vibe, four awesome bros, sexy me, & getting ready to go under

Besides more rest and relaxation we ate yummy food including the biggest pizza i've ever seen!

Lyla taste testing the sand. She actually didn't eat it as much as I thought she would

Just being cuter than ever in her little suit she got for Christmas from Aunt Lindsey
And that's the end of a great trip with lots of laughs and good times! A big thank you to Josh's parents who made it all happen :)
